solstice*

I come across that stretch of path
Breath catching in my throat
So white

Blind and hardly daring
To take a step
And think of you

The winter stops the world frozen
My blood is getting sluggish colder fast

Younger Brother,
You made it to the other side

* mid-13c., from Old French solstice (13c.), from Latin solstitium "point at which the sun seems to stand still"
